Writing is the main basis upon which your education, work, and your intellect will be judged in college, in the workplace, and in your community. Florida National University recognizes this by encouraging its students to write it right!
Being an educator and a student myself, I think we’d all agree that communication is pretty important. In fact, it’s a necessary component of an education, part of our livelihood, and a basic functionality in our society. One of the ways we communicate is through writing. But how many of us can truly write well? Writing is not really about texting your friends or updating your Facebook status or copying and pasting information from the Internet for an assignment you need to turn in. Writing is a lot more complex than that. In fact, writing is used extensively in college and in the workplace.
Much of the professional communication you will encounter after graduation will be through written reports, proposals, memos, interviews, e-mails, etc. Report writing is one of the most critical tasks a law enforcement officer performs on a daily basis. Paralegals are continuously engaged in research and writing and attorneys are dependent on the contracts they draft for their clients.
It is our responsibility at Florida National University to ensure you graduate with these essential skills.
