DAVIE, Fla. (Feb. 1, 2023) – For the second time in program history, Florida National University’s women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to the Sharks of Nova Southeastern University. The ITF’s No. 2 ranked Sharks executed a dominant sweep over a fiery Conquistador squad looking to pull an upset at the NSU Tennis Complex at Rolling Hills.
NSU captured the first point of the day with a solid win in doubles play after FNU’s Fabiola Bsereni and Pirada Suwanrak lost to NSU’s Diane Follin-Arbelet and Eva Goncharov (3-6)
Vanessa Simone and Nadia Abad fell to graduate students Karolina Snita and Julie Razafindranaly (1-6). Sofia Victoria Pera and Salome Sierra fell to Shark duo Kashmira Manohar and Kayla Solagnier (3-6).
In the singles portion of the meet, FNU put up a valiant performance despite losing all six matches. Notably, Suwanrak nearly pushed her match to three sets, before falling 0-4 in the tiebreaker to Manohar (1-6, 6-7 [0-4]). Sierra looked primed to pull off a victory but lost a thrilling match to Goncharov (1-6, 6-4, 3-10).
