HIALEAH, Fla. (March 27, 2023) – With the blistering sun beating down on the courts of Goodlet Park in Hialeah, Fla., Florida National University’s women’s tennis team delivered a 7-0 win over the Warner University Royals. This thrilling victory marks the first win for the women’s squad this season and its first shutout of 2023.
Doubles play was a strong indicator of this to come in the match, as FNU partners Vanessa Simone and Nadia Abad and Vanessa Simone and Nadia Abad won their respective matches 6-0 to secure the opening point. Pirada Suwanruk and Salome Sierra edged out their Warner competitors 6-3 moments later before heading into singles play.
The Conquistadors’ stellar play transitioned into solid individual performances as Simone and Suwanruk won their matches by a score of 6-1, 6-0. FNU went unbeaten in all six singles matches.
