WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 20, 2020) – The Florida National women’s basketball team (1-5) could not overcome a poor-shooting first quarter, suffering a 71-51, loss at Keiser (5-5) on Sunday afternoon.
Shooting just 17.6 percent in the first 10 minutes (3-of-17), the Conquistadors fell behind, 28-5. For the remainder of the contest, FNU kept it close as KU held a 46-43 edge over the final three quarters.
Leading the team in scoring was senior Adria Stewart, who posted a game-high-tying 21 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the floor (5-of-14 from 3-point land) and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Freshman Delores Charlton led FNU in rebounding, corralling seven boards followed by sophomore Elymaries Rodriguez who tallied six.
The Conquistadors ended the afternoon shooting 25.7 percent (18-of-70) from the floor and 8-of-34 from beyond the arc (23.5 percent). The Seahawks shot 19-of-54 for the game (35.2 percent) and converted 29.2 percent of their shots from downtown (7-of-24).
On the boards, KU held a 58-34 edge, including a 17-12 advantage on the offensive glass.
FNU will next travel to Lake Wales, Florida, to take on the Warner Royals on Tuesday, December 22.
