What are VA Educational Benefits?
VA Educational Benefits help veterans, service members and their qualified family members with college tuition, training program identification, and career counseling.
GI Bill® (Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
GI Bill benefits help veterans pay for college, graduate school, and training programs. The Post-9/11 GI Bill helps veterans pay for school and job training if they served on active duty after September 10, 2001.
Montgomery GI Bill -Active Duty (MGIB-AD/Chapter 30)
If you served at least 2 years on active duty, you may be eligible for VA educational benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty program. Veterans may be eligible for VA benefits if they were honorably discharged and meet the requirements set out by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The amount of money you receive under the Montgomery GI Bill depends on your length of service, the type of education or training program you choose, the category you fall into, whether you qualify for a college fund or kicker, and how much you’ve paid into the $600 Buy-Up program. You may be able to get a maximum of 48 months of VA educational benefits, not including Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) benefits.
For Florida National University students, you may be eligible for up to $25,162 tuition benefits and $2,535 a month housing benefits for those students attending both the Main and South campus.
Veterans Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)
If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work, you may be eligible for Veteran Readiness and Employment benefits. In some cases, a family member may also qualify for certain benefits. The benefit offers a complete evaluation of your employment abilities, vocational counseling and rehabilitation for employment, job training, resume development, and other work-readiness support. Yellow Ribbon Program
This educational benefit pays for the fees that Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover. To be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program, you must qualify for 100% benefit level of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Florida National University does offer the Yellow Ribbon program funding for remaining tuition not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Basic Housing Allowance (BHA)
