HIALEAH, Fla. ( Aug. 25, 2023) – Florida National University strung together three sets of offensive dominance in its first game of the 2023 Fall season. The Conquistadors defeated the University of the Bahamas Mingoes 25-12, 25-17, 25-9 in front of over 30 FNU faithful at Bucky Dent Park.
Notably, Layla Cortez dominated the court, picking up some high-flying kills. Newcomer Taylor Purdy showed sparks of brilliance throughout the quick contest, delivering clean serves and showing excellent chemistry with her new squad. This will be FNU’s lone home game of August, before returning to host the University of Maine at Fort Kent on October 10 at 7 p.m.Â
This steady and resilient victory comes ahead of a four-game, two-day road trip to Brunswick, Ga., where the Conquistadors will participate in the Bash at the Beach hosted by Point University and the College of Coastal Georgia.Â
