MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 16, 2024) – Florida National University’s track and field team had a great showing at the STU Under the Lights Open, breaking four school records in Miami Gardens, Fla. FNU came into the NAIA and NCAA DII competition fresh off shattering ten school records at the Embry-Riddle Blue and Gold Meet on March 3.

On the women’s side of the action, the 4x400M relay team of Joelle Baptiste, Christina Adams, Prisilla Gonzalez and Daryl Quichimbo sprinted to a program-best time of 4:25.07, finishing fourth. 

In throwing events, Florida National’s Miel Johnson posted a second and fourth-place finish in the women’s discus and shot put, respectively. Both marks broke school records as the Lady Conquistadors placed fourth in a competitive field including NCAA DII standouts Lynn University and Nova Southeastern University.

The men’s side of the competition saw Austin Phanitdasack pass the finish line in the 400M hurdles with a personal best and program record of 58.47. Phanitdasack placed fourth in the hurdles, while Lucas Woodside’s sixth-place time of 10.96 in the 100M is the third-fastest in school history. 

FNU’s men ended the meet with a team score of 39, landing in third.
