MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2023) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team faltered versus the RV St. Thomas Bobcats Tuesday, 6-1. FNU did a solid job against a talented Bobcat team on the road. This defeat marks the fifth straight loss FNU has suffered at the hands of STU, despite the Conquistadors claiming their first singles point in a match this season.
In doubles play, Umberto Particelli and Guido Gentile fell 2-6 in their match as Sebastian Fujita and Jan Oppermann put up a solid fight in their contest before losing 6-7. Luigi Stefanacci and David De Ayguavives did put up a great performance in a 6-3 win on their court that did not materialize in a long-awaited doubles point for FNU.
When play resumed, FNU was able to get one singles victory as Stefanacci forced his way to a 6-4, 6-3 win over his STU opponent. Gentile commanded a 7-2 win in the opening set but dropped the next two games, 4-6 and 7-10.
