Missing Children Ends Now- Stop!
Hialeah, Florida — May 11, 2016 – According to the FBI and Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a child goes missing every 40 seconds in America. That comes to 765,000 children a year. Of the more than 11,800 endangered runaways reported to NCMEC in 2015, one in five were likely victims of child sex trafficking. With numbers so high, calls to action are being made. Florida National University (FNU) is committed to community involvement and helping causes that are pressing to society, which is why the institution has created a second annual rally to raise awareness
In preparation for this significant rally, a POWERHOUSE Committee meeting was held on April 5, 2016 at 2:00pm. The Golden Room, the meeting hall of the main Hialeah campus for FNU was filled with impassioned individuals who had committed themselves to the cause of finding missing children.
While at the meeting, the Committee agreed upon guest speakers. The official list of guest speakers includes: Mr. Fernando Alvarez, Director of Investigations, Missing Children Global Network; Mr. Victor Williams, Special Agent, Homeland Security Investigations; Sgt. Latasha Johnson, Special Victims Bureau, Miami-Dade Police Department; Mr. Carlos Aguilar, Director, Christian Aguilar Search & Rescue Committee ( K-9 Training) and Missing Children Global Network; Dr. Vilma Castro, LMFT, President & Founder, Jaclyn Elisse Cares for Youth Foundations; and Mr. Tony Sparks, Vice-Chairman, Erase Child Trafficking.
Mr. Carlos Aguilar, the Director of the Missing Children Global Network and also Director of the Christian Aguilar Search & Rescue Committee ( K-9 Training), offers this valuable guidance, “The importance of the organizations that are working to prevent and recover missing children should be supported by the entire community.”
In observance of Missing Children’s Day, the Second Annual Missing Children’s Rally will be held (rain or shine) at FNU’s Hialeah Campus located at 4425 W 20th Avenue (Jose Regueiro Avenue), Hialeah, FL 33012 on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016. The rally will have sponsors providing delicious food, live music, and family-friendly fun for all ages.
“Let’s all come together and reclaim our children. Our children must not be Taken, and lose their lives needlessly in the hands of criminals! FNU’s POWERHOUSE represents One Voice and One Community,” pronounced Dr. Maria Cristina Regueiro. “Let’s collectively show a community’s Call to Action to Stop Missing Children and join us on May 25th @ 10:00 a.m.”
