Florida National University (FNU) nursing baccalaureate program is granted accreditation by commissioners at CCNE, effective September 10, 2014.

Florida National University (FNU) is announcing that the baccalaureate nursing program at Florida National University has just received accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. This accreditation has been granted to FNU with an effective date of September 10, 2014. The CCNE serves to identify and maintain the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency nursing programs.
Through accreditation, the CCNE has recognized FNU for the ongoing commitment to educate future nurses in a professional educational program. Recognition is awarded only to schools that meet the establishment’s standards. Accreditation via the CCNE is a multiple-step process requiring extensive preparation.
“Students in this program should expect a well-rounded education through the various aspects of nursing. To be successful, we expect potential nursing students must devote both time and dedication to accomplish their goal,” explained Professor Cassandre Milien, assistant program director.
“This accomplishment attests to our students, partner institutions, clinical facilities, and our community that the BSN program at Florida National University and its mission, goals, and objectives are conducted in a trustworthy manner. That we are committed to educational quality, and we exhibit integrity and professionalism in the conduct of our operations,” stated Doctor Ruben Coll, BSN program director at FNU.
CCNE accreditation is not required for U.S. nursing programs. It is a voluntary, yet challenging element of a school’s self-regulation process in which program directors elect to engage for the betterment of their students.
CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and supports continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education and post-baccalaureate nurse residency programs.
The University expects this accomplishment will encourage a greater number of students to apply to FNU’s program, as it delivers a competitive edge for job candidates.
“With the programmatic accreditation granted from the CCNE, our students and graduates will be recognized nationally as professionals who obtained their education from an elite institution. Our program will be more attractive to students who want to make their dream of becoming Registered Nurses with a baccalaureate degree a reality,” Doctor Coll continued.
