Not-for-profit event open to the public to discuss how transportation and logistics can boost the economy.
Miami, FL – September 16, 2014
Dr. Jose Regueiro Scholarship Foundation Inc. is hosting a not-for-profit forum, in partnership with Florida National University, the Town of Medley, and the Town of Medley Chamber of Commerce to discuss Logistics and Transportation.
A panel of experts in the transportation and logistics industry will discuss the many ways the industry can help stimulate economic growth in the South Florida community. This forum is open to the public.
“We wanted to be sure to play our role in the efforts; that is why we decided to develop and host this not-for-profit, community service public event. In fact, part of the reason we are holding the conference at the Town of Medley Town Hall is so that residents feel like part of the efforts; they will understand this event is geared toward everyone rather than those associated with the University, alone,” stated Jose Alonso, the Social Media/Marketing Specialist for Florida National University.
Noted professionals will be speaking at the event. They are as follows: Raymond Jones, Director of Industrial/Business Development for the Florida East Coast Railway; Barbara Pimentel, Executive Vice President/Director Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association, Inc.; Gary Goldfarb, Chief Strategy Officer at Interport Group of Companies, Miami Headquartered Supply Chain Management Company, and Foreign Trade Zone # 281-17; and David Banfield, Assistant Vice President of International Sales for Florida East Coast Railway.
“It is increasingly important for South Florida residents to be aware of what professionals have to say regarding ways to improve the local economy. As we continue to climb out of the current recession, there are surprising components that can help drive the economy—that is where the logistics and transportation industry comes in. We are very excited for the speakers to impart their knowledge at the forum,” Alonso continued.
The conference will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 4:00pm-8:00pm, with a networking reception during the final hour. Attendees must RSVP by September 29, 2014, as space is limited. Those wishing to attend can RSVP by contacting Ms. Naomi Mitjans at nmitjans(at)fnu(dot)edu, or 305-821-3333 extension 1033.
