HIALEAH, Fla. (May 13, 2024) – Florida National University had four standouts earn coveted spots on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) 2024 Softball All-American list. The USCAA announced their honorees May 12 on opening day of the Small College World Series.
Outfielder Ana De Oliveira Obando took home the highest honor for the Conquistadors as one of 15 players selected as Second Team All-Americans. Obando had a noteworthy season with a team-leading four home runs to go along with a .324 average from the batter’s box.
Sabrina Castelli, Brylea Rusler and Sophia White rounded out the All-American selections for the Conquistadors with Honorable Mentions. Castelli was the most consistent bat for FNU, blasting much-needed hits this season. The sophomore out of New York has a .379 batting average and 44 hits so far this season.
As freshman pitchers, Rusler and White carried most of the load from the circle for the Conquistadors in 2024. They both showed great maturity in their first season of collegiate softball, as White claimed eight wins and a 2.44 ERA. Rusler had an 8-2 record and 2.46 ERA en route to 58 strikeouts in 85.1 innings.
