MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 17, 2023) – The luck of St. Patrick’s day had nothing to do with Florida National University’s solid showing at the St. Thomas University Spring Break Battle. This is FNU’s third meet of the season, and it was another stellar performance from Maryam Abreu.
Abreu thrilled the crowd at St. Thomas with a first-place finish in the women’s 3000m with a time of 11:28.90. In the women’s discus, Emmanuelle Streib finished in eleventh place. Hassell Zeledon and Daryl Quichimbo finished eleventh and twelfth in the women’s 800m. Florida National finished fifth out of six teams.
On the men’s side, FNU finished sixth out of six teams despite a fifth and sixth place finish in the 3000m from Michael Kipchumba and Leon Kipkoech, respectively. In the men’s high jump, Trevor Moonin placed fourth with a 1.75m mark. In the men’s 4x400m, Gabriel Rodriguez, Cristopher Carmenate, Roger Guardiola, and David Bellefleur placed fifth.
