HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2023) – Florida National University’s men’s soccer forward Nicolas Martinez was named the Continental Athletic Conference’s (CAC) Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive two-game outing for the Conquistadors.
In his first game back from injury, Martinez scored a stunner versus the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish on Sept. 27 by stealing the ball from PBA goalie Omar Einarsson and launching an easy goal into a wide-open net. Martinez scored again in FNU’s 3-0 rout of the New College of Florida Banyans on Sept. 30.
“Martinez, the Offensive Player of the Week, scored two goals to lead the nationally ranked Conquistadors to an unbeaten week,” said the CAC’s release.
“The Boston, Massachusetts, native found the back of the net in a 2-2 draw against NCAA Division II Palm Beach Atlantic University (Florida) last Wednesday. The forward also scored a goal in FNU’s 3-0 victory against The New College of Florida last Saturday.”
Martinez and the No. 14 Conquistadors host Florida College at Milander Park on Oct. 5 at 10 a.m.
