While attending Nursing School, it takes discipline, determination, and a lot of hard work. From incoming students preparing to take the Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) entrance exam to recent graduates studying to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), a great deal of focus, discipline and determination is required. Students who must take these tests need to dedicate the time and attention necessary in order to continue onto the next level in their academic and professional career.
nursing degree programs taught at Florida National University (FNU) are designed to help students prepare. FNU offers nursing degrees in the following programs:
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
- Bachelor of Science (BSN)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- RN to MSN

Why You Will Need More Resources to Take the NCLEX Exam
While the degree programs are quite exemplary, and the faculty and staff are quite qualified to teach you all of the necessary information to help you prepare for the exam. However, it’s going to take much more to prepare for the actual day of the test. You will need to have an idea of what kind of questions will be asked, in what kind of format, and how the overall exam is structured. Such details are crucial in passing the test.
One of the top 5 tips to preparing for an exam according to US News is to “study for the test, not for the course” and “figure out the format.” The Florida National University (FNU) Library can help you do this.
How The FNU Library Can Help You Study for the NCLEX Exam
The FNU Library has created a Quick Reference Guide to assist students throughout their health sciences education, especially for the career in the Nursing field.
As you can see, FNU has a wealth of resources available to students who need help preparing for the NCLEX exam.
The Purpose of Taking the NCLEX
The content the FNU Library provides has been developed to support nursing students preparing for the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). NCLEX is the official test that all prospective nurses must take before being allowed to practice in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or United States territories. It is owned and developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, or NCSBN. The purpose of the test is to enhance public health and safety by making sure that only people who are qualified to act as nurses are actually allowed to do so. Passing the NCLEX demonstrates that the prospective nurse has the knowledge, abilities, and skills that are required of a professional nurse.
Benefits of Utilizing FNU Library’s Resources
The overall mission of FNU’s Library is to support the curricular needs of the university. This means being able to provide materials in a variety of formats that are relevant to the academic teachings of the university. This includes what’s organized in a course curriculum as well as providing resources needed to succeed outside of the classroom after graduation.
As a regionally accredited university, our goal is to support student and faculty research while keeping abreast of the evolving information in both print and electronic formats and various techniques required for lifelong learning.
In FNU’s current Library Collections, there are NCLEX exam books to check out and take home. Students can log-in to the LIRN databases and upload and read the full-text books from their own computer monitor at any time and place with 24/7 access. Students can reserve/textbooks or reference NCLEX exam books to study in at the FNU Library for the entire duration of library hours.
Here are some of the resources FNU recommends to prepare for the NCLEX exam:
The FNU Library Staff provides access codes to the UWorld eResource for NCLEX exam practice preparation. The UWorld is more than a practice question bank, it is an “explanation bank” that is a one-stop learning resource where you have all the information you need to master NCLEX concepts.
