TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2022) – The Conquistadors played their first game of the Florida College Tournament against Kansas Wesleyan and unfortunately, fell short of victory losing in three sets. The Coyotes improve to 6-3 on the season while FNU falls to 0-4.
Set One FNU Notables (12-25)
- FNU equalized the set early 4-4 with a kill courtesy of Lina Valentino
- A kill by Joanne Dania from Maria Liva cut the Kansas Wesleyan lead and settled the set 7-10 midway.
- KWU went on an 8-1 tear to finish out the set
Set Two FNU Notables (14-25)
- Margareth Collantes’ service ace tied up the set 8-8
- A kill by Paola Brandsma on an assist from Maria Liva cut KWU’s lead 16-12
- Lina Valentino had FNU final’s point of the set as she executed a kill to make it 14-24
Set Three FNU Notables (21-25)
- Highest scoring set of the contest for the Conquistadors
- Joanne Dania’s kill gave FBU an 8-5 lead
- Tied 21-21 before KWU collected the last four-point of the set to close out the win
Match Notables:
- Lina Valentino had six kills in the match
- Joanne Dania recorded six kills
- Sofia Moreno Bendala recorded a solo block
