Jacksonville, Fla. – Florida National University softball team (3-3) faced the Edward Waters College on Tuesday, February 2nd. Florida National Splits the doubleheader losing game one in dramatic fashion, 4-3, and winning the game two by a final of 11-0 in five innings. The contest was played at J. Gardner “Nip” Sams Softball Park, home of the Tigers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lady Tigers had a flair for the dramatic in the opening contest. Leading 3-2 in the top of the 7th inning, a critical error for EWC allowed a Conquistadors run to score to tie the contest at 3-3.
- Fast-forwarding to the bottom of the 7th, sophomore second baseman Passion Mills led off the half-inning with a walk, bringing up junior center fielder Ashley Combast.
- The Hudson, Florida native smacked an RBI single that allowed Mills to come around to score the game-winning run in walk-off fashion.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The second game quickly got away from the Purple & Orange with EWC unable to get around a masterful pitching performance from FNU’s Taylor Turner.
- The Conquistadors had a no-hitter going up until the bottom of the seventh when Jade Jerez hit a bloop single to left field for EWC’s lone hit of the game.
- The nightcap was busted open at the top of the 4th inning. Already trailing 5-0.
- EWC allowed six runs to cross home plate, including a grand slam to give the Conquistadors an insurmountable 11-0 lead.

Florida National University Softball team will now face Ave Maria University for a double-header on Wednesday, February 5th at 2:00 pm. The games will take place at Ave Maria, FL.
