HIALEAH, Fla. ( Aug. 31, 2022) – Florida National’s men’s soccer team powered past Warner University August 31, following its victory over Florida Memorial last week Thursday. The Conquistadors’ 2-1 victory handed the Royals its first loss of the season and marked the second road win for FNU at Milander Park.
No. 19 Conquistadors dominated the field and were the first to get on the board with a goal from Constantino Higa on an assist from Bruno Gonzales and Blas Barrancos. This would stand as the lone goal for the period before both teams retired for halftime.
The Royals roared back with a goal of their own in the 58-minute by Philip Joergensen. With the score level at 1-1, FNU would need some magic in the late goings of the second period to pull out a victory.
In the 62-minute, Blas Barrancos found the back of the net for what would be the game-winning goal. Brothers Matias Leaniz and Santiago Leaniz assisted on the score and helped propel FNU past Warner for the third victory of the season.
Up Next- The Conquistadors will return to Milander Park to face Brewton-Parker College at 5 p.m on September 10.
