MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 14, 2023) – Florida National University performed well in another competition hosted by St. Thomas University. The Bobcat’s Pre Conference meet was filled with NAIA and NCAA DII talent including Keiser University, Warner University, Webber International University, Ave Maria University and Nova Southeastern University.
On the men’s side of the field, FNU’s mid-distance and distance runners were strides ahead of the competition. Sophomore sensation David Bellefleur topped the men’s 800m once again with a time of 1:53.37. Michael Kipchumba finished third in the 5000m coming in with a time of 20:00.95
In the men’s high jump, Trevor Moonin and Ingmar van Noort propelled themselves to fourth and fifth place, respectively. Nicolas Aguado placed ninth in the 100m and twelfth in the 200m race.
The women’s side of the action for the Conquistadors was equally as impressive. Maryam Abreu placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:25.21. Carla Collado excelled in the 5000m with a time of 29:45.80 to come in third. The relay team of Prisilla Gonzalez, Abreu, Daryl Quichimbo and Hassell Zeledon worked in perfect unison for a second-place time of 4:37.14 in the 4x400m.
Thrower Emmanuelle Streib placed seventh in the discus while Terralyn Brockington got fifth in the javelin with a mark of 25.90m. A mark of 1.32m in the high jump also landed Brockington a fourth-place finish.
