ORLANDO, Fla. – (October 12, 2019) – The Florida National University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country runners competed in the 23rd Annual Disney Cross Country Classic early on Saturday morning at ESPN world wide of sports, Orlando, Florida. Collegiate men’s competitors Ran in an 8K race, collegiate women’s runners ran in the 5K race.

FNU’s first female finisher was freshman Heather Castro, who completed the 5K race with a brand new school record time of 22:20.80, finishing in 75th place. Freshman Hassell Zeledon was the next Conquistador to cross the finish line as she ran a time of 24:28.20 for a 103rd place finish. The final two FNU women were freshman .Sara Galindo, who ended with a time of 25:09.90, and freshman Mery Yanez Mendieta, who recorded a time of 28:35.10 for a 140th place finish.

On the men’s side, freshman Patrick Kemboi finished the 8K race with a time of 29:18.70 as he finished in 52nd place overall. The other Conquistador competing was freshman Cameron Spielman who ended with a time of 32:54.40 for a 98th place finish.
