HIALEAH, Fla. (May 22, 2023) – Despite missing a bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s (USCAA) Small College World Series, Florida National University’s baseball team had two stellar student-athletes make All-American teams.
Designated hitter and homerun specialist Roberto Fernandez earned a first-team spot while second baseman Alejandro De Arazoza landed a second-team nomination.
With eight homers in the 2023 season, Fernandez was an incredibly effective offensive weapon for the Conquistadors during his 128 at-bats. Racking up 11 doubles and a .359-hitting average, Fernandez was an undeniable force on the diamond for FNU.
Second baseman and veteran hitter De Arazoza owned a .336 hitting average along with 37 runs and hits. With eight homers and 10 doubles, De Arazoza brought a spark to the Conquistador lineup and still managed to record 50 putouts in 35 games.
