AVE MARIA, Fla. ( Oct. 7, 2023) – Florida National University’s cross country team competed at The Sun Conference Preview hosted by Ave Maria University. The field included top South Florida schools, including Webber International University, St. Thomas University and Nova Southeastern University in the women’s 6K and the men’s 8K. FNU’s men’s and women’s teams both finished in 6th place.
On the men’s side of the course, Kristian Bodden was once again FNU’s top finisher and ended the morning in 12th place with a time of 28:03.5. Bodden’s time was the seventh fastest time in program history. Leon Kipkoech was 24th out of 82 runners with a time of 29:51.2, and FNU’s team effort earned them a 6th-place finish out of eight.
In the women’s 6k, the Conquistadors set a school record with an average time of 28:27.2. FNU’s top finisher, Christina Adams, toppled FNU’s 6k record with a time of 25:32. Notably, Daryl Quichimbo had the second fastest time for the Conquistador women, ending the meet 38th out of 88 runners with a time of 27:39.3.
