WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ( Nov. 8, 2023) – Florida National has conceded 214 points through two games in the 2023-24 season following a 101-62 loss to the Keiser University Seahawks on Nov. 8.
In the first half, Keiser took eight trips to the free throw line while FNU went 2-4 from the charity stripe. Janelisse Marty Marrero went 3-5 from long range in a 13-point opening quarter for the junior guard. She scored all of FNU’s points in the first with the Conquistadors trailing 22-13.
The Seahawks blew the game open in the second, going a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line in the period. Catalina Valenzuela posted 10 in the frame but Keiser shot an impressive 9-15 from the field for a dominant 53-32 advantage heading into the halftime break.
FNU’s defensive struggles persisted in the third, as the Seahawks drew six FNU personal fouls. Sharpshooter Halle Taylor was automatic from the three-point line, going 3-3 in the frame. Keiser went on to outscore Florida National 29-11 in the final quarter and ended the night with a staggering 37 attempts from the free throw line.
Marty Marrero recorded a team-high 28 points, four steals and four assists. Delores Charlton led the team in rebounding with seven, while Valenzuela grabbed three steals and dished five assists.
