HIALEAH, Fla. (March 27, 2023) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team pulled together a tremendous 4-3 win over the Warner University Royals Monday. FNU bounced back from a 0-1 start, after losing the tough opening point in doubles play. But four spectacular singles performances claimed FNU’s second win of the 2023 season.
In doubles play, Sebastian Fujita and Jan Oppermann as well as FNU duo Luigi Stefanacci and David De Ayguavives fell 4-6 to their Warner competitors. Partners Umberto Particelli and Guido Gentile did manage a 7-6 before both teams turned their attention to singles play.
A 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 singles win from Jerry Makela helped the Conquistadors secure the win in singles play. Particelli, De Ayguavives and Oppermann’s victories sent Warner home packing.
