HIALEAH, Fla. (March 13, 2023) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss fresh off an impressive 4-3 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on March 3. The Conquistadors put up a solid fight through doubles and singles play before ultimately falling to a very strong 14-3 Case Western Reserve squad out of Ohio.
In doubles play, FNU lost two of its three matches as partners Sebastian Fujita and Jan Oppermann got a 6-3 win. Jerry Makela and Hamish Lee lost their matches 2-6. FNU duo Luigi Stefanacci and David De Ayguavives lost their contest 4-6 to secure the opening point for the Warriors.
In singles play, FNU was unable to mount a comeback despite a solid win from Jerry Makela. The Conquistadors defeated Matthew Plunkett 5-7, 6-1, [12-10].
