VIERA, Fla. (March 11, 2023) – Florida National University’s softball team continues its hot streak at the USSSA Space Coast Games, securing a win over the Lourdes University Gray Wolves, 3-2. The Conquistadors are fresh off a two-win outing the previous day toppling Fisher College 17-0 and performing a walk-off win against Calumet College 4-3.
FNU’s total offense for the game came in a breakout second inning, as the Conquistadors collected three runs and four hits before ending the frame. Ana De Oliveira Obando was the first to score a run for FNU before a double down the right-field line from Jordan Bohn allowed Kaylee Pitman to go in for the 2-0 lead. Shortstop Yleisha Perez’s lone hit of the afternoon sent Bohn in for the unearned score as the inning came to a close.
In the sixth, Lourdes would score two runs to make it a tight game heading into the seventh. Pitcher Dakota Kulis did just enough in the frame to keep the Grey Wolves scoreless to secure a 3-2 FNU win. During her time in the circle, Kulis walked no batter and got five strikeouts.
FNU had eight hits and two errors while Lourdes collected six hits and one error.
