HIALEAH, Fla. (April 22, 2024) – Florida National University’s Joelle Baptiste is The Sun Conference women’s track athlete of the week following an explosive performance at the St. Thomas University Open April 19. Joining her with his own TSC weekly honor, jumper Ivan Rodriguez is the men’s field athlete of the week.
Baptiste recorded a school record in the 400M hurdles and nearly set a school record in the 200M dash with a time of 27.27.
Rodriguez posted a school record in the high jump, finishing first at 1.98M during the St. Thomas University Open. The freshman also earned the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 13.80M and finished third in the long jump (6.22M).
Florida National seeks a trip to NAIA nationals at The Sun Conference Championships April 27-28 hosted by St. Thomas University.
