Daniel Pressman enters his second season as Florida National University’s men’s basketball head coach. With four years of experience working in collegiate men’s basketball, Pressman became the fourth head coach in Conquistador program history in December 2023.
The 2023-24 season was a historic one under Pressman, as FNU earned a spot in the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament for the first time in program history. FNU entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed with a 6-2 record in conference play. The Conquistadors had an excellent tournament with two All-Tournament honorees (Jovan Debrito, Ray Daniel Parrish), despite falling in the semifinals to Washington Adventist University.
Pressman also saw two Conquistadors named as 2023-24 All-CAC First Team members (Jovan Debrito, Ray Daniel Parrish) and one honorable mention (Matthew Robinson). The first-year coach also added two USCAA All-Americans before the conclusion of the season (Debrito, Robinson).
The Florida native will also be taking his coaching talents to the 2024 Miami Pro League held at Miami Senior High School. Pressman joins the bench of team Level Up along with rising high school coach Laz Chamizo.
Pressman joined the Conquistadors as an assistant coach in September 2023 after multiple seasons with the Florida International University Panthers. He began working with the NCAA DI Panthers as a volunteer manager in 2016 under head coach Anthony Evans. He later became a graduate assistant with FIU’s men’s basketball team, primarily focusing on cutting film, scouting teams, and player development as a part of head coach Jeremy Ballard’s staff. Pressman assisted FIU’s basketball program with creating tapes and films for its recruits in the postseason.
In the spring of 2022, Pressman was hired as a coach for the Miami Heat’s Jr. Heat Camps and Clinics. The aim of this community outreach program from the Miami Heat is to provide basketball training for kids ages 7-16 throughout winter, spring, and summer breaks. Pressman continues to help out at different Heat camps throughout the calendar year.
Since joining Florida National, Pressman has worked tirelessly to improve the culture of FNU’s basketball program and cultivate a robust developmental team. A native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Pressman earned his bachelor’s in physical education on the sports and fitness track from FIU in 2020. He also has a master’s in kinesiology and exercise science from Florida International.Â
