HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2023) – Florida National University’s Ricardo Delwing boasts this week’s Continental Athletic Conference’s (CAC) Defensive Player of the Week award. Last year’s CAC Newcomer of the Year was essential to FNU’s 2-0 record last week, including wins over Florida College and Johnson University of Florida.
Delwing’s defensive presence helped FNU secure a solid 2-0 win over the Falcons in conference play. FNU remains unbeaten versus CAC opponents this season and stands at No. 12 in the NAIA’s Men’s Soccer Coaches Poll. On the offensive side of the ball, Delwing tapped in two goals in FNU’s rout of the Suns on Oct. 20. The Conquistadors would go on to win that contest 6-0 and improve to 10-1-4.
“Delwing, the Defensive Player of the Week, scored two goals in the Conquistadors’ 6-0 victory against Johnson University (Florida) last Friday,” the CAC’s press release said. “The Estrela, Brazil, native also helped FNU post a shutout in a 2-0 triumph against Florida College last Tuesday.”
FNU has one final regular season contest against the Barry University Buccaneers on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. before heading to Lawrenceville, Ga., for the CAC Tournament.
