About Kyler Grotz

Kyler Grotz is the first esports head coach in Florida National University’s history and enters his second year at the helm of the program with over three years of experience in the field of competitive electronic gaming. 

In the fall of 2023, Grotz led FNU to its first title after taking home first in the NACE Starleague Varsity Plus Four Division League of Legends Championship. FNU defeated Truman State University in November to end its championship campaign with a 6-2 record.

Before joining FNU in the summer of 2023, Grotz was an Esports competitor specializing in Overwatch for the Florida Southern College Mocs. Notably, Grotz participated in and won competitions against Texas A&M and Baldwin Wallace. He also worked as a research intern for the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. 

Grotz graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida Southern with a minor in Esports Management in 2023. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Florida Southern in Esports Management. 

A native of Augusta, Ga., Grotz resides in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
