DeLand, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2023) – Florida National University’s women’s tennis team put up a valiant effort against the Stetson University Hatters. This marks the second loss for FNU in 2023 and the Conquistadors hold on to a 0-1 record in the early goings of the 2023 season.
The Hatters got off to a solid start earning the double point after FNU’s Fabiola Bsereni and Pirada Suwanruk got shut out by Alanna DiFrancesco and Magdalena Hedrzak 0-6. Conquistador duo Nadia Abad and Vanessa Simone were the next pair to fall as Cheri Darlay / Nadejda Maslova secured the point with a 1-6 win.
The singles competition left much to be desired for the Conquistadors as no FNU player managed to squeak out a win. Notably, Vera Hoekstra performed nicely against Stetson’s Anais Gabriel before losing 2-6,0-6.
