HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2022)- Florida National celebrated a senior night with a storybook victory over Florida Memorial Friday. These two teams meet earlier in the season when the lions handed FNU a 3-0 loss in Miami Gardens, Florida. But this five-set thriller was a far cry from their earlier contest, as FNU battled back to end their regular season with a victory. Florida National now stands at 7-11 while the Lions drop to 11-7.
Set One FNU Notables (12-25)
- Florida National got off to a slow start in the first half falling behind by double digits early
- The Conquistadors struggled to get themselves in rhythm and allowed FMU to take over
- A ball-handling error from FNU ended the set and gave the lions the advantage

- FNU lead for the majority of the set and didn’t leave the door open for FMU to regain some momentum

- The Lions attacked the net with power and capture some serious kills in the set

- Was all tied up at 15-15 before FNU took over
- Florida National’s performance forced a game-deciding fifth set for the first time this season in a home contest
Set Five FNU Notables (16-14)
- Florida National jumped to a 3-0 lead
- Florida Memorial was the first to eight points and cause both sides to switch sides for the final scratch of the match
- Florida National gained a 15-14 advantage and got the match point on a ball-handling error from FMU
