AVE MARIA, Fla. (February 24, 2021) – A goal by Martin Marijuan in the 30th minute was all of the offense that the Conquistadors needed as the Florida National men’s soccer team (3-1) defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes, 1-0, on Wednesday night.
Kicking off their spring schedule the Conquistadors outshot the Gyrenes, 13-9 in the contest led by Marijuan’s four shots on the night. FNU used the early score combined with a staunch defense to pick up the shutout.
Goalkeeper Victor Ruiz Lasso earned the clean sheet, making five saves in the game while playing all 90 minutes in net for FNU.
The Conquistadors will next travel to Miami Gardens to take on the St. Thomas Bobcats on Wednesday, March 17. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
