Ave Maria, FL- Down the stretch the Conquistadors pull off a tight win over the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University on their home court. The Conquistadors were able to steal yet another win on the road winning the game 69-66. This win boosts the Conquistadors to a 5-2 record, while extending their win streak to five games in a row.
The seesaw game was one that would have had you on the edge of your seat the entire game. Even though the end result was slim the Conquistadors were able to push the lead to 15 points in the 2nd half but the feisty Gyrenes battled back to give the Conquistadors a fight until the end. A major part of the Conquistadors victory again came from Terence Johnson, Chris Hall, Jessy Cantinol and Jose Benitez. The freshmen sensation Benitez was able to attain 13 points and hand out three assists.
Senior guard Chris Hall had 13 points while fellow senior Johnson had 10 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and gave out two assists. Alongside his seniors Cantinol was able to rip down 10 rebounds as well while contributing eight points to the contest.
Overall the Conquistadors were able to perceiver through the ruckus crowd of Ave Maria and get a much needed win. The Conquistadors are excited for tonight’s win but are still remaining focused on their match up against NCAA DII power house Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL. That game is set for tip-off at 7pm, November 10th, this is the first time in school history that the Conquistadors will face off against the Sharks of Nova Southeastern and they want it to be one for the book.
