Florida National University (FNU) nursing and respiratory students and faculty participated in the Women’s Breast and Heart Health Initiative drive during the month of February. The initiative targeted women living in lower income neighborhoods in the City of Hialeah, Florida.
The objective of this initiative was to inform women of the dangers of breast cancer and heart attack, offer them free mammograms, and educate them about prevention. During the initiative, FNU, officials and other volunteers from the organization visited households in the Hialeah area. This is the second year that Florida National University has participated in this community-minded event.
