DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 3, 2024) – Florida National University’s track and field team exited the Embry-Riddle Blue and Gold Meet with 10 new school records over a multitude of events across the men’s and women’s competition. Embry-Riddle hosed NAIA and NCAA talent in Daytona Beach, Fla., including Florida College, Lynn University and Ave Maria University.
FNU’s men’s team saw the program’s best in the men’s 100M race from Michael Carrasco Rodriguez with a time of 10.91. Notably, Rodriguez also impressed in the long jump with a 6.71M performance. Trevor Moonin continued his excellent showing at the Teon Elite Invite last weekend, posting a school best in the men’s 200M and finishing sixth in the event.
FNU’s standout freshmen were electric, as Ivan Rodriguez broke a school record in the triple jump and Alessandro Herrera placed sixth in the men’s 3000M steeplechase with a program record of 11:23.98.
The women’s side of the action was just as eventful with new records set in the 200M and 400M. Both school records belong to Joelle Baptiste, who clocked in at 27.31 in the 200M race and crossed the finish line with a time of 1:00.51 in the 400. Christina Adams posted a time of 4:53.93 in the 1500M, ending the competition in sixth.
Throwing events were another area of strength for FNU, as Miel Johnson recorded a mark of 9.92M in the shot put and 33.18M in the discus event.
