BOCA RATON, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis squad (0-6) dropped another match in the 2024 season, this time against the NCAA DII Lynn University Knights (2-1). Lynn was able to secure a quick and decisive 4-0 victory on the courts of the Perper Tennis Complex in Boca Raton, Fla. This is the fourth time FNU has fallen to the Knights, with its first loss coming in 2019 by the same score.
In doubles play, 6-1 losses from FNU pairs David Santamaria and Ignacio Acosta and Luigi Stefanacci and Sebastian Fujita claimed the opening doubles point for the Knights. Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez’s match versus Haktan Garayev and Brodie Young Smith remained unfinished as both teams turned their attention to singles play.
LU’s Jonathan Olive-Blanco claimed a swift 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles play over Acosta. FNU Gentile lost his match to Gabriele Felline 6-1, 6-1 and Lynn pushed its way to a sweep off a 6-3, 6-1 victory from Gianmarco Amatiste against Stefanacci.
